One Man Dead, Another Critically Injured in Pontiac Shooting

OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. — Tragedy struck Tuesday evening in Pontiac when an 18-year-old man lost his life and a second man was critically injured in a shooting near West South Boulevard and Highland Avenue.

Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene at approximately 7:49 p.m. after reports of multiple people shot. When deputies arrived, they found the 18-year-old Pontiac man unresponsive, suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Deputies immediately began life-saving efforts until paramedics from the Waterford Regional Fire Department arrived and took over. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

A second victim, a 19-year-old man from Pontiac, was driven to the hospital by a bystander. He underwent emergency surgery and remains in critical condition, though he is expected to survive. A third individual involved in the incident was located but was not physically injured.

Two suspects were taken into custody shortly after the shooting, and detectives with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office have identified two additional individuals they are actively seeking.

Sheriff Michael Bouchard commended the swift actions of his team, stating, “I commend the quick response by our team and the efficient work by our detectives to identify individuals involved. Senseless violence destroys far too many lives, and as a society, we must find a better path.”
