With heavy hearts, we share the devastating news that two young siblings, 7-year-old Sebastian Trotter and 4-year-old Charlotte Trotter, tragically lost their lives during the catastrophic flash flooding that struck Ruidoso, New Mexico, on Tuesday, July 8, 2025.
The Trotter family, stationed at Ft. Bliss in El Paso, Texas, was on a camping trip when the sudden flooding overwhelmed the area. As the waters surged, Sebastian and Charlotte were swept away, despite their parents’ desperate efforts to save them. Both parents sustained injuries in the attempt and are currently hospitalized in El Paso, recovering physically as they face the unimaginable weight of their loss.
The heartbreak deepens as the family also lost two of their beloved dogs in the flooding.
This tragedy has shaken not only the Ruidoso and El Paso communities but all who have heard of the Trotter family’s profound loss. In this time of grief, we hold the family in our thoughts and prayers, and we honor the memories of Sebastian and Charlotte—two bright, beautiful lives taken far too soon.
May their memory be a blessing, and may their family find strength in the outpouring of love and support surrounding them.
