In Loving Memory of John Concannon

It is with heavy hearts and deep reverence that we announce the passing of John Concannon, who departed this world in 2025 at the age of 64. As a fourth-generation vintner and the proud torchbearer of one of California’s most historic and celebrated wine legacies, John dedicated his life to preserving tradition while embracing innovation in the world of winemaking.

Raised among the vines of the Livermore Valley, John carried forward the vision first planted by his great-grandfather, James Concannon, founder of Concannon Vineyard in 1883. With integrity, passion, and a deep respect for the land, John not only nurtured the family’s vineyard but also helped shape the future of California wine through his leadership, mentorship, and tireless advocacy for sustainability and quality.

John was more than a vintner—he was a storyteller, a steward of heritage, and a man who believed in the power of wine to bring people together. Whether walking the vineyard rows or raising a glass in the tasting room, he touched the lives of everyone he met with warmth, generosity, and an unshakable commitment to excellence.

He leaves behind a lasting imprint on the industry and the community he so deeply loved. His legacy will live on in every bottle, every harvest, and every family memory made over a shared glass of wine.

John Concannon is survived by his loving family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to call him a colleague, mentor, and friend. Details regarding services and memorial celebrations will be shared in the days to come.

May he rest in peace, and may his spirit continue to inspire all who follow in his footsteps.
