With heavy hearts, the Bedford and Salem State communities mourn the tragic loss of Reidon “Ray” Ford, a bright and compassionate young man whose life was taken far too soon. Ray, 21, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and impact that touched all who knew him.
A 2022 graduate of Bedford High School and a student at Salem State University, Ray was a proud alumnus of the METCO program and a standout athlete who played for the Buccaneers’ varsity football and basketball teams. But beyond his achievements on the field and in the classroom, Ray was most known for his warmth, his kindness, and the joy he brought into every space he entered.
“His bright spirit was taken from us far too soon,” said Akil Mondesir, METCO director for Bedford Public Schools. “His passing has left an ache in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege to know him. He was a friend to so many and a joy to be around.”
On behalf of the METCO family, Mondesir extended heartfelt condolences to Ray’s loved ones: “May you find comfort in the memories of his laughter, his kindness, and the way he made this world a better place simply by being in it. His memory will remain with us always.”
BHS Principal Heather Galante also shared a moving tribute, saying, “Reidon, affectionately known as Ray to us, was a kind and compassionate individual who genuinely cared for those around him. Ray was deeply connected to many friends and faculty members, and his positive impact on the BHS community was undeniable.”
At this time, obituary and memorial details have not yet been released. The community continues to surround Ray’s family and friends with love, support, and remembrance.
Ray’s light will never be forgotten. May he rest in peace.
