Tragic Drowning Claims Life of Tyler Shoemaker in Schroon, NY

SCHROON, N.Y. — A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded Thursday afternoon in the town of Schroon, where 28-year-old Tyler Shoemaker of Cobleskill lost his life in a drowning incident.

According to New York State Police, the incident occurred around 2:20 p.m. at a private beach near Cornell Street. Witnesses reported that Shoemaker had gone underwater while at the beach and never resurfaced. Bystanders and emergency responders acted quickly and were able to recover him from the water, but despite determined efforts to resuscitate him, Shoemaker was tragically pronounced dead at the scene by the Essex County Coroner.

Responding agencies included Essex County Emergency Services, Schroon Lake Fire and EMS, and New York State Police, all of whom worked to assist in the rescue and recovery efforts.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are continuing to gather information surrounding the events that led to the drowning.
