Durham Police Searching for Murder Suspect in Deadly Middle Street Shooting

DURHAM, N.C. — The Durham Police Department is actively searching for Sincere Bostic, 18, of Durham, who has been charged with murder in connection with the June 29, 2025 homicide of 20-year-old Jayquon Taborn.

The shooting occurred in the 600 block of Middle Street, where officers responded to reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, police discovered Taborn suffering from fatal gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A 15-year-old girl was also injured in the shooting and was transported to a nearby hospital. Her injuries were reported as non-life-threatening.

Following a thorough investigation, detectives have issued an arrest warrant for Sincere Bostic, who remains at large. Authorities are urging the public to come forward with any information that could assist in locating him.

ā€œThis was a senseless act of violence that took the life of a young man and injured another innocent victim,ā€ said a spokesperson for the Durham Police Department. ā€œWe are committed to ensuring justice is served.ā€
