Evy Elizabeth Thompson

With deep sorrow and aching hearts, the community of Calhoun mourns the passing of Evy Elizabeth Thompson, 15, who went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville. Though her time on earth was brief, Evy’s radiant spirit and unwavering love for others left a lasting imprint on every life she touched.

Born on July 20, 2009, in Owensboro, Kentucky, Evy was joyfully welcomed and chosen in love by her parents, Jeffery Scott and Sarah Elizabeth Caraway Thompson. From the very beginning, she brought light and laughter into their lives, growing into a young woman full of heart, strength, and grace.

A proud student at McLean County High School, Evy would have entered her sophomore year this fall as a member of the Class of 2028. She was a shining presence on the varsity cheer team, known for her energy, positivity, and team spirit. She was also an active member of FFA, reflecting her love for animals, the outdoors, and her commitment to community involvement.

Evy’s faith was the foundation of her life. A devoted member of Bellevue Baptist Church in Owensboro, she was deeply involved in the student ministry, where her love for Jesus shone brightly in her words and actions. She lived with purpose and compassion, often encouraging others to seek Christ with the same courage and joy that she carried.

Evy had a vivid imagination and a gift for creativity. She loved expressing herself through art, crafting beauty with her hands and her heart. She felt most at home in nature—climbing trees, exploring the outdoors, and enjoying the world with curiosity and wonder. Her gentle soul was especially drawn to animals, and her beloved cat ‘Junie’ held a special place in her heart.

To know Evy was to smile. Her goofy sense of humor, her infectious laugh, and her ability to turn an ordinary moment into a cherished memory made her a joy to be around. Whether making silly videos with her siblings and cousins or simply being her spirited self, Evy brought light and laughter wherever she went.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, John Caraway, whose memory she cherished.

Evy is survived by her loving parents, Scott and Sarah Thompson of Calhoun; her brothers, Leland Thompson and John Eisley Thompson; her sister, Livingston Thompson; her grandparents, Connie Caraway of Calhoun, Ann and Herman Duncan of Owensboro, and Jeff Thompson of Louisville. She is also mourned by many aunts, uncles, cousins, classmates, and countless friends whose lives were touched by her beautiful soul.

A celebration of Evy’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at Bellevue Baptist Church, 4950 Kentucky 56, Owensboro. Burial will follow at Calhoun Cemetery in McLean County. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday, July 14, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., with additional visitation on Tuesday morning from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service.

Arrangements are being handled with care and compassion by Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel.

Evy’s time with us was a precious gift, and though her loss is immeasurable, her impact is everlasting. She will be remembered for her faith, joy, courage, and love—a bright light that will never fade. In honoring her memory, we are reminded to live with open hearts, to laugh often, and to love deeply, just as she did.
