With profound sadness, the Gick family announces the unexpected passing of Matthew Gick on Thursday, July 9, 2025, at the Saint John Regional Hospital in Saint John, New Brunswick. Matthew was the cherished son of Colleen Grattan Gick and Kevin Gick of St. Andrews, N.B.
Matthew’s loss is deeply felt by his loving family, including his partner Holly Winchester, and by the many friends, neighbors, and community members throughout Charlotte County who knew and cared for him. He will be missed beyond words for his quiet strength, kind-hearted nature, and the genuine care he extended to others in every aspect of his life.
Those who had the privilege of knowing Matthew remember him as a man of integrity, compassion, and service. Whether through his work, friendships, or everyday interactions, he left behind a legacy of kindness and connection that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
A gathering to offer condolences and say goodbye to Matthew will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Wesley United Church in St. Andrews, N.B. All are welcome to attend and pay their respects.
In honour of Matthew’s generous spirit and commitment to his community, the family has established a scholarship fund that will support local students in his name. Donations may be sent via e-transfer to kristinegick@gmail.com. Tax receipts will be issued once the fund is formally established.
The family is grateful for the outpouring of support during this incredibly difficult time and asks for continued prayers as they grieve the loss of someone so deeply cherished. A full obituary will be shared in the coming days as the family takes time to reflect and remember the many ways Matthew’s life made the world a better place.
