With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, the Cleveland community mourns the loss of Johnny Cosme Sr., who passed away on June 12, 2025. A beloved husband, a devoted father, and a cherished father figure to many, Johnny’s passing leaves behind a void that words can scarcely fill.
To those who knew him, Johnny was more than family — he was a foundation. He brought strength where there was struggle, warmth where there was cold, and love where it was most needed. His presence was reassuring, his loyalty unwavering, and his heart immeasurably generous. Though not everyone who called him “Dad” was related by blood, the love and bond shared ran far deeper than biology ever could.
One of the most touching tributes came from someone who expressed the pain of this loss with raw honesty:
“The only man I could truly call my father… we weren’t blood, but we might as well have been. I’ve never felt a pain like this one. I love you so much, Johnny Cosme Sr. I’m sorry I didn’t make more of an appearance… I will see you on the other side.”
These words speak volumes — not only about the heartbreak of his passing but also about the depth of love he gave so freely. Johnny had a way of making people feel seen, valued, and safe. His life was a quiet, powerful example of what it means to love without condition, to give without asking, and to be present without expecting anything in return.
Johnny’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those he touched — in the family he loved deeply, the friendships he nurtured with care, and in every person who was made to feel like family because of his compassion. He didn’t just raise children — he raised spirits, lifted burdens, and built a family around kindness, patience, and unconditional love.
As we grieve, we also give thanks. Thank you, Johnny, for the laughs, the wisdom, the protection, and the love. You may be gone from our sight, but you will never be gone from our hearts.
Rest peacefully, Johnny Cosme Sr. Your life made this world better — and your memory will continue to shine in all who were blessed to know you. Until we meet again.
