The city of Lexington is reeling after a tragic incident on Tuesday afternoon claimed the life of a local man. Authorities have identified the victim as 60-year-old Dean Dalrymple, who was found shot and unresponsive at a residence on the 1800 block of Darien Drive, a neighborhood located between Alexandria Drive and Lane Allen Road.
Lexington Police say officers were dispatched to the home around 1:25 p.m., following a report of an unresponsive individual. Upon arrival, they discovered Mr. Dalrymple with a gunshot wound, and despite efforts to revive him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Fayette County Coroner’s Office officially identified Mr. Dalrymple, and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting remains ongoing. Detectives have not yet released any information regarding suspects, motives, or whether the incident is believed to be targeted or random.
Neighbors expressed shock and sorrow, describing the area as typically quiet and peaceful. Many recalled seeing Dean walking in the neighborhood or chatting with familiar faces. “He was a kind man,” one neighbor shared. “It’s heartbreaking something like this could happen here—and to someone like him.”
