Arrest Made in Encino Shooting That Claimed Lives of ‘American Idol’

ENCINO, CA – The Los Angeles Police Department has confirmed an arrest in the tragic double homicide of Robin Kaye, a longtime music supervisor for American Idol, and her husband, Thomas DeLuca. The couple was found dead inside their multimillion-dollar home in Encino on Monday, sending shockwaves through both the local community and the entertainment industry.

Authorities say Kaye and DeLuca were discovered in separate rooms of the residence following a welfare check. The LAPD now believes the fatal shooting occurred several days earlier, possibly on Thursday, during what appears to have been a burglary that escalated into a deadly confrontation.

Dispatch records show police were initially called to the home on Thursday afternoon after reports of a prowler, but responding officers reportedly found no signs of forced entry or criminal activity at that time. It wasn’t until Monday’s follow-up that the horrifying truth was uncovered.

Robin Kaye had been a respected figure in Hollywood for years, contributing her talents to American Idol since 2009. She also worked on music departments for various other productions, earning the admiration and respect of countless colleagues.

“We are devastated to hear of Robin and her dear husband Tom’s passing,” an American Idol spokesperson said. “Robin has been a cornerstone of the Idol family since 2009 and was truly loved and respected by all who came in contact with her. Robin will remain in our hearts forever and we share our deepest sympathy with her family and friends during this difficult time.”

The identity of the suspect and details regarding the arrest have not yet been released as the investigation remains ongoing.

The loss of Robin and Tom is being felt deeply across the industry and beyond. Their deaths are not just a tragic reminder of the unpredictable nature of violence, but also a devastating blow to the many who knew and loved them.

Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Los Angeles Police Department as they continue their investigation.
