Police Seek Information in Fatal Eastwood Hills Shooting That Left 36-Year-Old Man Dead


KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Homicide detectives with the Kansas City Police Department are actively investigating a deadly shooting that claimed the life of 36-year-old Nicholas J. Carter on Tuesday, July 15.

The incident occurred at Eastwood Crossings, a large apartment complex located roughly three miles south of the Truman Sports Complex. Officers were dispatched to the scene around 11:40 a.m. following reports of gunfire within the complex.

Upon arrival, officers located Carter inside one of the apartment units suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite emergency efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the circumstances surrounding the shooting remained unclear. Police have not released any details regarding potential suspects or motives. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are urging the public to come forward with any information that might help shed light on the events leading up to Carter’s death.

On Wednesday, authorities formally identified the victim as Nicholas J. Carter, 36, though no further information about his connection to the apartment or the events leading to the shooting has been released.
