LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Heartbreak fills the Newburg neighborhood as the community mourns the tragic death of 17-year-old Dunia Tuhenya, who was fatally shot on Tuesday evening. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office officially identified Tuhenya as the young victim who succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds following a shooting incident in the 300 block of Poplar Level Court.
According to Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD), officers were dispatched to the scene around 5:40 p.m. after receiving multiple reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered Tuhenya suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds to his upper body. Emergency medical teams quickly transported him to a nearby hospital, but despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The Coroner’s report revealed that Dunia Tuhenya had sustained multiple gunshot wounds, leading to his untimely death at just 17 years old.
