The south side of Kansas City is mourning the loss of Jaida Perdue, 24, whose life was tragically cut short in a deadly shooting on the morning of Tuesday, July 15, 2025. The Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) has confirmed the launch of a homicide investigation into the incident, which has sent shockwaves through the local community.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire just after 8:00 a.m. near the 7900 block of South Benton Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered Jaida suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite efforts from emergency medical crews, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Jaida Perdue was known to many as a vibrant and kind-hearted young woman with a promising future. Friends and family described her as someone who brought light into every room she entered and who deeply cared for the people around her. Her sudden and violent death has left loved ones devastated and the community in deep sorrow.
