The community of Minneapolis, Minnesota is mourning the heartbreaking loss of David Trunecek, a deeply loved resident whose life was tragically cut short following injuries sustained in a farming accident. Though he later succumbed to those injuries, the impact of his presence will live on in the hearts of those who knew and cherished him.
David was more than a neighbor or friend—he was a pillar of strength, humility, and unwavering faith. A man of deep spiritual conviction, David led his family with love, integrity, and resilience. He faced life’s greatest trials with grace, especially during his battle with a rare and aggressive form of stage four colorectal cancer. Despite the immense physical toll, he fought with everything he had, never losing his hope or spirit.
David is survived by his loving wife, Kate von Schledorn, their young son, and an unborn daughter whom they expected in just a few short months. He also leaves behind Jessica Lorntz Waite, who mourns the loss of the man she dearly loved. Their grief, along with that of David’s extended family, is immeasurable.
Those closest to David remember a man who was always present, always willing, and always giving. Whether in his church, his family life, or his broader community, David’s actions spoke louder than words. He was a man who inspired, who comforted, and who believed deeply in the good of others.
In this time of sorrow, we ask that thoughts and prayers be extended to the Trunecek family and all those feeling the weight of this loss. David’s passing was sudden and unwelcome, a painful reminder of how fragile and precious life can be. The world truly needs more people like David in it—kind-hearted, faithful, and selfless.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by the family in due time. Until then, may we honor his memory by living with the same integrity and love that he exemplified every day.
Rest in peace, David Trunecek.
May your soul find eternal rest, and may your legacy continue to shine through your children and all who knew you.
Fly high.
