It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jose Wedergren, 33, of Fremont, Nebraska, who tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident on the night of Thursday, July 17, 2025, in Omaha. The crash occurred shortly after 11 p.m. near the intersection of the John F. Kennedy Expressway and O Street.
Jose was riding his 2006 Victory Vegas motorcycle northbound when a collision occurred with a 2011 BMW sedan. The impact of the crash ejected him from the motorcycle. Emergency responders arrived quickly and transported him to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Authorities confirmed that Jose was wearing a helmet at the time, highlighting the severity of the impact.
Born and raised in Fremont, Jose was known for his adventurous spirit, love of motorcycles, and unwavering loyalty to his friends and family. He had a kind heart, a contagious laugh, and a passion for life that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Whether it was a weekend ride through the Nebraska countryside or lending a helping hand to a neighbor in need, Jose lived each day with generosity and courage.
He is survived by his loving family and a wide circle of friends who are heartbroken by his sudden loss. Jose’s passing is a devastating reminder of how fragile life can be and how deeply a single moment can alter the lives of those left behind.
The Omaha Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident. While speed is believed to have been a contributing factor, the full details remain under review.
At this time, funeral arrangements have not yet been announced. The family appreciates the outpouring of love and support and requests privacy as they grieve this tremendous loss.
