It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Leonard Franco, 31, of Amarillo, Texas, who tragically lost his life in a vehicle accident during the early morning hours of July 18 2025.

The incident occurred near Lakeside at I-40, where Amarillo police officers were already on the scene for an unrelated call at a nearby convenience store. According to officials, Leonard was driving a Jeep Liberty that collided with the trailer of a semi-truck exiting the Pilot Truck Stop. The impact caused Leonard to be ejected from the vehicle. Despite the immediate life-saving efforts by officers and emergency responders, Leonard was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the semi-truck was uninjured. An autopsy has been ordered by Justice of the Peace Jackson, and the Amarillo Police Department Traffic Investigation Unit is actively reviewing the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Leonard Franco’s passing is a heartbreaking loss to his family, friends, and community. Known for his vibrant spirit, kind heart, and strong sense of loyalty, Leonard was a beloved son, family member, and friend.
