With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Lee Edmond Defoe, age 40, of Waubun, Minnesota, who tragically lost his life following an incident in Mahnomen County on the morning of July 18, 2025. Lee was discovered with fatal injuries in a roadside ditch near Highway 59 and 160th Avenue after being struck by a vehicle. Despite efforts to save him, he sadly passed away, leaving behind a profound void in the hearts of his family, friends, and community.
Lee was a kind-hearted and genuine soul known for his friendly spirit, warm smile, and unwavering loyalty to those he loved. His sense of humor and lighthearted nature could brighten any room, and his compassionate heart touched the lives of many in Waubun and beyond. Whether it was lending a helping hand or sharing in a moment of laughter, Lee was always present for those who needed him.
A lifelong resident of Waubun, Lee was proud of his roots and cherished the bonds he built within his community. His love for the outdoors, time spent with family, and connections with lifelong friends will forever be remembered and celebrated.
Lee leaves behind a loving family who adored him and countless friends who considered him family. As the community comes together to mourn this heartbreaking loss, they also celebrate the joy, warmth, and unforgettable moments Lee brought into their lives.
