CHEROKEE COUNTY, SC — Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler has confirmed the identity of a woman who was killed in a tragic single-vehicle accident early Saturday morning. The victim has been identified as 22-year-old Aaliyah Shyann Sisk of Meadow Lane in Gaffney.
According to Coroner Fowler, the fatal crash occurred at approximately 2:50 a.m. on Dravo Road near Blacksburg. Sisk was a front-seat passenger in a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe that was being pursued by law enforcement at the time of the accident. The vehicle lost control and crashed into an embankment at the intersection of Dravo Road Extension.
“Sisk’s head struck the windshield on impact,” Fowler stated. “She died at the scene.”
Authorities say an autopsy will be conducted to assist in the ongoing forensic investigation being led by the coroner’s office.
Further details surrounding the pursuit, including what prompted the police chase and the condition of the driver, have not yet been released. The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
Sisk’s sudden and tragic death has left family and friends mourning the loss of a young life with so much ahead. Updates on the investigation and any potential charges related to the crash are expected as more information becomes available.
