FORT SMITH, AR ā Authorities have made arrests following a fatal shooting that occurred in the early morning hours of Friday, July 18, 2025, in Fort Smith. At approximately 4:45 a.m., Fort Smith Police Department officers responded to a death investigation in the 1300 block of North 38th Street, where they discovered 39-year-old Jerry Beane deceased at the scene.
After a swift investigation, police arrested 25-year-old Hunter Harrell of Eureka Springs in connection with the deadly shooting. Harrell now faces charges of First Degree Murder and Discharging a Firearm from a Vehicle in the killing of Beane.
Additionally, police took 42-year-old Ashley Lensing into custody. Lensing, who was allegedly present with Harrell during the incident, was arrested on a parole violation.
Authorities have confirmed the case is being treated as a homicide, and the investigation remains active as detectives work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the shooting.
