In Loving Memory of Rekeea Jackson-Mason

With heavy hearts, we announce the tragic and untimely passing of Rekeea Jackson-Mason, age 36, of Chatham, Illinois, who died in the early hours of Saturday, July 19, 2025, following a senseless act of violence.

At approximately 3:30 a.m., Springfield Police responded to a residence on Holly Drive where they discovered Rekeea suffering from a gunshot wound. She was rushed to a local hospital but was sadly pronounced deceased at 4:08 a.m., shortly after her arrival.

An autopsy conducted on Sunday by Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon revealed that Rekeea died from injuries related to the gunshot. The Sangamon County Coroner’s Office and the Springfield Police Department continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.

Rekeea was known for her vibrant personality, unwavering strength, and the deep love she held for her family and community. Those who knew her remember her for her kindness, resilience, and the way she made others feel heard and valued. She was a daughter, a mother, a friend—and above all, a woman whose life deserved far more than this tragic end.

Her passing has left an immense void in the lives of those who loved her. In honoring her memory, we must also call for justice and for anyone with information to come forward.
