The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office has officially charged Edward Christopher Stutey, 54, of Supply, with murder following the death of Jamie Caldwell, the victim of a violent assault that occurred on June 29, 2025.
Stutey was initially charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury (AWDWIKISI) after the incident. However, authorities confirmed that Ms. Caldwell succumbed to her injuries earlier today, leading to the upgraded charge of murder.
Stutey was booked into the Brunswick County Detention Center on the day of the original assault and remains in custody as the case continues to develop.
The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office has stated that the investigation remains ongoing, and no further details have been released at this time.
