Adult Male Fatally Shot at Homeless Encampment in Saint Paul

SAINT PAUL, MN — A tragic scene unfolded Sunday afternoon when an adult male was found shot and killed at a homeless encampment near the 1200 block of Jackson Street, marking the fifth homicide of the year in the city.

Officers from the Saint Paul Police Department responded to a report of gunfire at approximately 1:15 p.m. Upon arrival, individuals at the encampment directed officers to a nearby tent where the victim was found suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Police immediately rendered aid until medics from Saint Paul Fire arrived and pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Authorities have not yet made any arrests in connection with the incident. Officers secured the area and began interviewing witnesses in an effort to gather information about what led to the shooting. As of now, the identity of the victim remains unconfirmed pending an autopsy by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office, which will also determine the official cause of death.
