Christopher Martin-Holmes Obituary

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has released the names of two individuals involved in a fatal incident that followed a police pursuit in Twiggs County.

Christopher Martin-Holmes, 26, and Phillip Ellison Jr., 23, were traveling westbound on I-16 around 10:30 p.m. Friday night when deputies attempted a traffic stop. According to the GBI, the two failed to pull over, prompting a high-speed chase that ended near Exit 12 off I-16.

After the vehicle crashed, authorities say shots were fired from inside the suspects’ car. A deputy returned fire, fatally striking Martin-Holmes, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ellison was taken into custody and booked into the Twiggs County Jail on charges of aggravated assault.

Martin-Holmes’ body has been sent to the GBI Crime Lab in Macon for an autopsy. The investigation remains ongoing, and officials continue to gather evidence surrounding the circumstances of the incident.
