Duncan Brass Obituary, Death – Fatal Hit-and-Run Under Investigation in Butte

Duncan Brass, 39, tragically lost his life early Saturday morning after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Locust and Garfield Streets in Butte. The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on July 19, and the driver involved fled the scene.

According to authorities, the suspect vehicle was traveling south on Garfield Street and is believed to have turned west onto Grand Avenue. The vehicle is described as dark in color, and its driver remains unidentified and at large.

Emergency crews from Butte Police, Butte Fire Rescue, and A-1 Ambulance responded to the scene, where Brass was pronounced dead. His body has been transported to the Montana State Crime Lab for autopsy. The Butte-Silver Bow Coroner’s Office has confirmed that family members have been notified.

The investigation is being conducted collaboratively by the Butte Police Department, Montana Highway Patrol, and the Butte-Silver Bow Coroner’s Office. Officials are asking the public for assistance, particularly anyone with surveillance footage or information that could help identify the suspect or the vehicle involved.
