Authorities have identified the body recovered last week from the St. Lawrence River as that of 70-year-old Egbert Dees, a resident of Virginia.
On July 15, New York State Police responded to reports of a body floating in the water near Picton Island. Upon arrival, officers also discovered an unmanned vessel nearby—identified as the PurDee—raising immediate concerns about a possible boating incident.
Following further investigation, law enforcement confirmed that the deceased was Egbert Dees. The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, and investigators are continuing to work to determine what led to the tragic discovery.
