Brian Pine Obituary, Death

The El Paso County Coroner’s Office has identified the man fatally shot during a confrontation with deputies late Friday night as 59-year-old Brian Pine.

According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), El Paso County deputies responded to a disturbance call shortly after 11:30 p.m. on Tranters Creek Way in the Security-Widefield area. A neighbor had reported a possible altercation involving a firearm.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered a firearm in the driveway and made contact with a man and a woman inside the home. Authorities say the man—now identified as Pine—became combative when deputies attempted to take him into custody. During the struggle, Pine reportedly grabbed and activated one of the deputies’ tasers.

In response, two deputies fired their service weapons, striking Pine. Despite immediate medical assistance provided by deputies and Security Fire personnel, Pine was pronounced dead at the scene.

CSPD also reported that two deputies sustained injuries during the incident and were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The Colorado Springs Police Department is currently leading the investigation into the shooting.
