Authorities have identified the victim of a deadly hit-and-run that occurred Sunday night in Sylmar as 29-year-old Carlos Posada, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office. Details about his place of residence have not yet been released.
The incident took place around 9:45 p.m. near the intersection of Polk Street and DeGarmo Avenue. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, witnesses stated that a vehicle traveling eastbound on Polk Street struck Posada and then fled the scene without rendering aid or calling for assistance.
Emergency crews from the Los Angeles Fire Department arrived quickly but were unable to save Posada, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
At this time, authorities have not released a description of the suspect or the vehicle involved. The investigation remains active, and officials are urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has surveillance footage from the area to come forward.
