CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. — The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that a death investigation is currently underway after a body was discovered down an embankment along Playmore Beach Road, just south of Lenoir.
Very few details have been released at this time, but authorities have confirmed that a vehicle was located nearby, potentially connected to the ongoing investigation. The area has been cordoned off as deputies work to determine the circumstances surrounding the discovery.
Officials say they plan to release additional information about the case on Wednesday morning, as investigators continue processing the scene and gathering evidence.
