DETROIT, Mich. — A devastating tragedy unfolded Tuesday evening on Detroit’s west side, where three family members were found dead in what police are investigating as an apparent murder-suicide.
Just after 6 p.m., officers responded to a call about a shooting in the 20400 block of Pinehurst Street. Upon arrival, they discovered the bodies of three individuals inside the home — all suffering from fatal gunshot wounds.
According to Detroit Police, all of the victims were related, and the incident is believed to have stemmed from a family conflict. While the exact circumstances remain unclear, investigators are treating the situation as an isolated murder-suicide, with no indication of an external threat to the public.
As of Tuesday evening, it was still unknown if anyone else was in the home at the time of the shooting. Authorities have not yet released the names or ages of the victims, pending notification of next of kin.
“We’re treating this as a family tragedy,” said a police spokesperson. “Our investigators are working to understand what led to this horrific situation. It’s a heartbreaking reminder of the emotional toll some families may be carrying in silence.”
Neighbors expressed shock and sorrow upon hearing the news, with some describing the family as quiet and private.
The Detroit Police Department is continuing its investigation. Crisis support services are being made available for affected family members and the surrounding community as they grapple with the tragic loss.
