The San Antonio community is grappling with the tragic death of Eric Zamora, who was fatally shot during a violent encounter on the city’s Northwest Side. The incident occurred mid-afternoon near a street block off West Avenue, where police say a confrontation turned deadly.
According to investigators, the 27-year-old man involved in the shooting had arranged to meet Zamora for a transaction reportedly involving jewelry and marijuana. During the interaction, authorities say Zamora attempted to rob the other individual outside a vehicle they had both occupied.
In response to the alleged robbery attempt, the 27-year-old drew a firearm and fired a shot, striking Zamora. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and transported Zamora to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled Zamora’s death a homicide, confirming that he died from a gunshot wound to the back.
San Antonio police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting. As of now, it is unclear whether any charges will be filed in the case. The identity of the 27-year-old individual involved has not been released.
