Hickory Police Arrest Suspect in July 14 Homicide

HICKORY, N.C. — A suspect has been taken into custody in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred earlier this month in Hickory.

Jaheem Quashawn Harris, 19, of Lenoir, has been arrested and charged with murder in relation to the July 14, 2025, homicide. Harris is currently being held at the Catawba County Detention Facility without bond. The Lenoir Police Department assisted Hickory Police in locating and apprehending the suspect.

The investigation stems from an incident that took place on the evening of July 14, when officers responded to reports of gunfire at 1123 2nd Street SE. Upon arrival, they discovered Keimarian Donyah Peterson, 22, of Hickory, deceased at the scene from apparent gunshot wounds.

The case remains under active investigation. Authorities are continuing to gather evidence and encourage anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward.
