It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of Michael and Debbie Carman, beloved members of the Conifer, Pine, and Bailey communities, and the heart and soul behind the cherished Abide Ride Burrito Truck.
Known for their warm smiles, generous hearts, and delicious breakfast burritos, Mike and Debbie became a beloved part of the morning routine for countless commuters heading into Denver. Their food truck wasn’t just a stop for coffee and breakfast—it was a place of connection, kindness, and community. They made every customer feel like family.
On the morning of July 21, while traveling to Denver to restock orange juice for the day ahead, Mike and Debbie were tragically involved in a multi-car collision caused by a wrong-way driver. The driver, reportedly traveling at speeds near 100 MPH southbound in the northbound lanes of Highway 285—just north of the Hwy 8 (Morrison Road) exit—struck their vehicle head-on.
Due to the severe damage, West Metro Fire Department was forced to cut the car apart in order to free Mike and Debbie. Michael was transported to the hospital, where—despite heroic efforts by emergency responders—he was pronounced dead. Debbie was admitted to the ICU in critical condition, with their only son at her side. Tragically, Debbie later succumbed to her injuries.
This devastating loss has left an unfillable void in the hearts of all who knew them. Mike and Debbie were more than business owners—they were neighbors, friends, and rays of light in their community. Their legacy of love, generosity, and hard work will never be forgotten.
We ask that you keep their family, especially their son, in your thoughts and prayers during this unimaginable time. The Abide Ride will always be remembered—not just for the burritos, but for the love and care Mike and Debbie poured into everything they did.
Rest in peace, Mike and Debbie. Your kindness, spirit, and presence will live on in the hearts of all who had the honor of knowing you.
