The community of Benton is mourning the loss of a local resident following a heartbreaking incident that occurred on Wednesday morning, July 23, 2025.
According to the Benton Police Department, 40-year-old Anthony Allen, a pedestrian and longtime Benton resident, was fatally struck by a vehicle while crossing the street. Preliminary reports indicate that the accident occurred when Allen was attempting to cross the road and was hit by a vehicle driven by 26-year-old Lucas Forsythe, also of Benton.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene immediately following the accident. Despite efforts to provide life-saving assistance, Anthony Allen succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
