Baltimore authorities have confirmed that the death of 43-year-old Travon Booth is being investigated as a homicide, following a crash that initially appeared to be a traffic accident. Booth’s body was discovered in a vehicle involved in a collision on northbound Interstate 83 near the Ruxton Road exit on Saturday. Maryland State Police notified city police about the incident on Tuesday, prompting a deeper investigation.
After conducting an autopsy, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined that Booth died from multiple blunt force injuries, officially ruling his death a homicide.
As the investigation unfolded, detectives learned that the events leading to Booth’s death likely began on the 1100 block of West Northern Parkway, indicating that the fatal encounter may have started well before the crash site on I-83.
The Baltimore Police Department is now urging the public to come forward with any information that could assist in the investigation. Anyone with tips is asked to call 410-396-2100, or to provide anonymous information through Metro Crime Stoppers at 866-7LOCKUP.
What was initially seen as a possible crash-related fatality has now taken a criminal turn, as investigators shift their focus to what happened on West Northern Parkway and how it resulted in Booth’s violent death. No suspects have been named, and authorities have not yet disclosed whether Booth’s attacker was known to him.
The investigation remains active, and officials are working diligently to piece together a timeline and identify any individuals involved. They also encourage anyone who may have witnessed unusual activity near West Northern Parkway around the time of the incident to speak up, noting that even small details could help advance the case.
While no immediate threat to the public has been identified, police have assured residents that they are committed to bringing justice for Travon Booth and providing answers to his grieving loved ones.
