ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — A community is shaken after a deadly shooting at Sunset Park on Thursday evening that left one person dead and another seriously injured.
At approximately 5:38 p.m. on July 24, 2025, officers with the Rocky Mount Police Department (RMPD) responded to reports of a shooting with injuries at Sunset Park. Upon arrival, police discovered one individual deceased at the scene. A second victim was located with gunshot wounds and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Their current condition has not yet been released.
The area was quickly secured by responding officers, and the incident is being investigated as a homicide. While authorities believe the shooting appears to be an isolated event, they remain actively on the scene conducting their investigation.
