Terre Haute, IN – The community is mourning the heartbreaking and unexpected loss of Karen Penick, who tragically passed away in a car accident on July 22, 2025. Her sudden departure has left a void that words can scarcely describe.
Karen was the embodiment of compassion and selflessness. Anyone who had the privilege of knowing her knows how deeply she loved. She gave from her heart—often to the point of sacrificing her own comfort to ensure others were taken care of. Whether it was a meal, a place to stay, or simply a listening ear, Karen gave without hesitation.
The grief of losing her son, my brother, changed her profoundly, yet she remained a rock for those around her—always putting others before herself. She never asked for help, no matter how great the need, which is why this moment is so difficult.
Now, in the wake of this tragedy, our family is faced with the unexpected burden of arranging her final goodbye. After going through her belongings, we have not been able to find any insurance or resources that would assist in covering her funeral expenses.
To honor her memory and give her the farewell she truly deserves, my husband and I are humbly asking for support. Any contribution, no matter how small, will help us provide Karen with a proper burial—something she so deeply deserves.
