NEW HAVEN TOWNSHIP, Minn. — The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the identity of the man found dead earlier this week in a tragic motorcycle crash in New Haven Township. The victim has been identified as 58-year-old Chadd Alfred Mayer, a resident of Kasson, Minnesota.
The crash came to light on the morning of Monday, July 21, when a utility worker operating in the area noticed a motorcycle and the body of a man lying in a ditch. Authorities were alerted at approximately 9:15 a.m., and first responders quickly arrived on scene.
While the exact time of the crash remains unknown, investigators believe it likely occurred sometime between 2 p.m. on Friday, July 19, and the morning the body was discovered. The incident remains under investigation, and officials have not yet determined the cause of the crash or whether any other vehicles were involved.
In a statement, Lieutenant Malinda Hanson of the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office offered condolences:
