Search Underway for Missing Man After Group Falls Into Mississippi River Near Campbell’s Island

CAMPBELL’S ISLAND, Ill. — On the evening of July 24, 2025, at approximately 6:39 p.m., emergency crews were dispatched to Campbell’s Island following reports of a person who had fallen into the Mississippi River.

According to officials, a group was gathered on Kay Island, located just off of Campbell’s Island, when multiple individuals fell into the river. Rescue crews responded quickly, and all individuals were safely recovered—except for one adult male, who remains unaccounted for.

A coordinated multi-agency search and recovery operation is currently underway to locate the missing individual. Authorities have not released the identity of the victim and are urging anyone with information that may assist in the search to contact the Sheriff’s Office.
