Teen Charged with Murder in Eastpointe Foot Locker Shooting

EASTPOINTE, Mich. — A 19-year-old woman has been charged with multiple felonies following a deadly shooting outside a Foot Locker in Eastpointe on May 3, 2025, that left two people dead and two others injured.

According to the Eastpointe Police Department, the incident unfolded around 2:50 p.m. in the parking lot near 8 Mile and Kelly roads and was captured on CCTV surveillance footage.

The shooter, identified as Lakylia Taylor, allegedly opened fire during a confrontation between two groups who were known to each other. Investigators say the violence erupted after Taylor’s brother, Dejuan Taylor, 21, was attacked by Tyjaune Morris-Turner, who was reportedly armed.

Claiming self-defense, Lakylia Taylor fired at point-blank range, killing Tyjaune Morris-Turner and Javon Gardin Jr., and injuring another individual. Authorities say Dejuan Taylor then took the firearm and fled the scene with his sister.

Taylor was taken into custody and formally charged on May 8 with the following:

  • Second-degree murder
  • Assault with intent to murder
  • Tampering with evidence
  • Multiple firearm-related offenses

She is currently being held on a $2.5 million bond.

Eastpointe authorities continue to investigate the case, and additional charges may be pending as the investigation develops. The condition of the injured survivor has not been disclosed
