BESSEMER, Ala. — Authorities are investigating the tragic death of a 50-year-old woman who was found fatally mauled by dogs in an overgrown vacant lot in Bessemer.
On Thursday morning, police responded to a call just before 7 a.m. regarding a possible death in the 100 block of Martin Street near Norwood Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered Delores Mukerson Musgrove of Adger lying in the grass. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The coroner confirmed that Musgrove had been attacked by multiple dogs. In response, animal control officers removed several dogs from the area. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to determine the ownership of the dogs involved.
Bessemer police continue to seek information and urge anyone with details to come forward as they piece together the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
