8-Year-Old Boy Dies After Accidental Shooting on San Antonio’s East Side

SAN ANTONIO, TX – An 8-year-old boy, identified as Daniel Casares, has tragically died following an accidental firearm discharge that occurred Friday afternoon on the city’s East Side.

The incident took place around 4:30 p.m. near the intersection of Bob Billa Street and Wales Avenue. According to authorities, witnesses reported that the child was playing with a firearm when it accidentally discharged, striking him.

Daniel was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, but despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed his passing on Saturday.

An investigation is ongoing to determine how the child gained access to the weapon and whether any charges will be filed.
