It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we share the passing of our beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, and friend, Emma Grace Black, who left us far too soon on Monday, July 21, 2025, at the age of 19.
Emma is the cherished daughter of Jennifer Black and Dillon Black (Rachel King), and the deeply loved sister of Rachel, Sophie, Logan, and JJ. She will be forever missed by her grandparents Eric & Mary Benjamins, Vivienne Black, and Don & Jo-Ann Whiteford. Emma is also lovingly remembered by her uncles Nathan, Barry, Aaron Benjamins, and Adrian Whiteford; her aunties Dominika and Maria Benjamins, and Dana Whiteford; and her cousins Adrian, Zack, Blake, Brooklyn, and Scarlett.
Emma shared a very special bond with her boyfriend Kai Allen, and her best friend and soul sister Abby Lakoseljac, along with so many others in our large and deeply connected extended family and circle of friends.
A creative soul, Emma was a gifted artist who found joy in watercolour painting, colouring, and expressing herself through her artwork. She had a playful spirit with razor sharp wit and hilarious sarcasm, which was usually directed (lovingly) towards her siblings. She loved gaming, “emo metal” music, quiet time with her siblings, and being surrounded by those she loved most. Emma was enrolled in the Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) program at Fanshawe College, where she was beginning to carve out her path with quiet determination and grace.
In her passing, Emma gave the ultimate gift of life through organ donation. Her selfless act has already brought hope and healing to several individuals and families, and exemplifies her generous and caring nature. We are immeasurably proud of Emma for this incredible gesture of compassion, and we are comforted in knowing that her beautiful spirit will live on in many others. Emma’s life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and her love a light that will guide us forever.
Our family would like to thank the incredible Critical Care Trauma Centre team at London Health Sciences Centre for their expert care and kindness. We’d like to specifically acknowledge nurses Nori, Brooke, Alexa, and Meaghan for their overwhelming compassion and loving care of Emma and our family. We are also very grateful to Jacqueline and Shannon from the Trillium Gift of Life Network for their kindness and support while coordinating the organ donation process. There are no words to adequately express our thanks to our family, friends, and colleagues for the outpouring of love for Emma and for us.
Family and friends will be received at the Forest Lawn Funeral Home, London, on Friday, August 1, 2025 from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 6:00pm-8:00pm, and again from 12:00pm until the time of the Celebration of Life on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, we would like to request that donations be made to the Critical Care Trauma Centre (CCTC) at LHSC Victoria Hospital or the Trillium Gift of Life Network in Emma’s memory.
