Rustin Needer – Nashville Man Fatally Struck While Walking Home

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) has identified the pedestrian who was struck and killed early Sunday morning as Rustin Needer, a 41-year-old Nashville resident.

The fatal incident occurred shortly before 2 a.m. on July 27, in the 1300 block of Gallatin Pike South. Authorities report that Needer was hit by a northbound Buick Encore. The driver remained at the scene and spoke with responding officers.

According to investigators, a family member shared that Rustin had called to let someone know he was walking home after his vehicle broke down near Gallatin Pike and Briley Parkway.

Despite emergency responders’ efforts, Needer was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of his injuries.

The investigation into the crash remains ongoing, but at this time, no charges have been filed. Rustin Needer is being remembered by loved ones for his presence, kindness, and connection to the Nashville community. His untimely passing has left family and friends heartbroken, as they grieve the loss of a man whose life ended far too soon.
