Summer Poole, 28, Killed in Tragic Aiken County Motorcycle Crash

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. — The Aiken County community is grieving the heartbreaking loss of Summer Poole, a 28-year-old motorcyclist from New Ellenton, who was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Saturday evening, July 26, 2025.

The collision occurred at approximately 6:09 p.m. at the intersection of Whiskey Road and Chukker Creek Road. According to the Aiken County Coroner’s Office, Poole was traveling southbound on a 2003 Honda motorcycle when a northbound Honda Civic attempted to make a left turn and entered her path. The resulting impact was catastrophic.

Emergency responders pronounced Poole deceased at the scene at 6:53 p.m. An autopsy is scheduled to take place next week in Newberry.

Poole was well-known in the local motorcycle community and often rode with her husband, Billy Poole, whom she married in 2021. The couple’s love for riding was evident to all who knew them. News of Summer’s tragic death has sparked an outpouring of grief and support across social media.

“I can’t believe this. She was the sweetest person ever. RIP Summer Poole. My prayers are with you Billy Poole,” wrote Latoya Lester in a heartfelt Facebook tribute.

Another friend, Deanett Moseley, shared, “I just can’t believe this… My heart breaks for her husband and family. People, please remember motorcycles—yes, we’re not all bad and we have families too. Look out for us.”

Holly Bates added, “Prayers for the family. Actions need to be taken seriously when it comes to motorcyclists being hit and killed, especially with all the people moving to the areas around.”

Summer’s mother, Jamie Brogden, expressed her devastation and anger in a public post, stating: “Especially when they are drinking and driving and high. That was my daughter that was killed. As she was going straight at the light on her bike, the driver of the other car took a left turn and hit her, taking her life. The driver and his wife were both intoxicated in their vehicle. My daughter was only 28 years old.”

The Aiken Department of Public Safety and the Aiken County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate the incident. As of now, no charges have been announced.

Summer Poole is being remembered not only as a devoted wife and beloved daughter, but also as a joyful spirit who loved to ride and brought light to everyone around her. Her death serves as a stark reminder of the dangers motorcyclists face on the roads—and the urgent need for greater awareness and responsibility behind the wheel.
