DARTMOUTH, MA — The two teenagers who tragically lost their lives in a devastating car crash over the weekend in Dartmouth have been identified as 19-year-old Kevin Dos Santos Lopes of New Bedford and 18-year-old Amilton De Pina Semedo of Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
The fatal accident occurred on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at approximately 1:35 p.m., when multiple 911 calls reported a serious crash on Interstate 195, near mile marker 19.4 and the Reed Road exit. Upon arrival, first responders discovered a 2006 gray Chevy Equinox that had suffered catastrophic damage in a single-vehicle crash. Authorities confirmed that no other vehicles were involved.
The severity of the crash was evident: the vehicle’s engine had been dislodged from the frame due to the force of impact, and both teens had been ejected from the SUV—an indication they may not have been wearing seat belts at the time. Emergency crews transported both victims to a nearby hospital, but sadly, Kevin and Amilton were pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The Massachusetts State Police, along with troopers assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, are leading the investigation into the crash. At this time, there is no indication of suspicious activity, but authorities are working to determine the exact cause of the accident.
