SHREVEPORT, La. – Heartbreak grips the Shreveport community after a 16-year-old girl tragically lost her life following a shooting that erupted during a large gathering on July 27 2025
According to the Shreveport Police Department (SPD), the incident occurred around 1:40 a.m. on July 27 in the 1700 block of North Market Street, near Superior Smoke Shop. Officers responded to reports of gunfire and arrived to find the teenage girl suffering from a gunshot wound to her upper body.
Emergency responders transported the victim to a local hospital, but despite life-saving efforts, she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
SPD investigators say a large crowd had gathered in the parking lot of a shopping center when multiple vehicles began exchanging gunfire in the roadway. The 16-year-old was caught in the crossfire and fatally wounded.
The victim’s name has not yet been publicly released out of respect for the family.
The Shreveport Police Department is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. No arrests have been made at this time, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
