At Least 1 Dead, 10 Injured in Mass Shooting on Edgewood Avenue in Atlanta

ATLANTA, GA — A night of chaos and violence unfolded in Atlanta’s Sweet Auburn neighborhood early Monday morning, leaving one man dead and 10 others injured in a mass shooting along Edgewood Avenue.

According to the Atlanta Police Department (APD), officers responded to the 300 block of Edgewood Avenue around 1:27 a.m., arriving on the scene within a minute due to routine patrols in the area.

Police found a 27-year-old man on the ground who had been fatally shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ten additional victims, ranging in age from 18 to 29, were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital. Authorities said one of the victims underwent surgery, but all are currently reported to be in stable condition.

Witnesses described a terrifying scene. One woman, who chose to remain anonymous, told Channel 2 Action News that moments before the gunfire erupted, she noticed several men jumping out of a truck carrying guns. She immediately called 911, but seconds later, the group opened fire on the crowd.

At this time, the exact number of shooters involved remains unknown. Investigators are working to determine what sparked the violence and who is responsible.

The APD is urging anyone with information to come forward as they continue to gather evidence and speak with witnesses.
