BAYTOWN, TX — A 40-year-old man from Baytown has been charged with murder after his father was found dead inside a burning home on July 21. The victim has been identified as 73-year-old Floyd Hadley.
The fire broke out around 4:00 p.m. at a residence in the 1900 block of Chilton Drive. As firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze, they discovered Floyd Hadley’s body inside the home. His death and the circumstances surrounding the fire immediately raised suspicions, prompting a homicide investigation by Baytown Police detectives.
Using advanced investigative tools such as NCIC (National Crime Information Center), a nationwide law enforcement database, and Flock Safety technology, detectives quickly identified a suspect: Floyd Hadley’s son, Clinton Hadley.
Authorities issued a BOLO (Be On the Look Out) through the NCIC system to aid in the search for Clinton. That same day, he was arrested in Slidell, Louisiana, on unrelated charges.
The case was presented to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, which has since filed formal murder charges against Clinton Hadley. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, including how the fire may be connected to the homicide.
Baytown Police have not released additional details at this time, and the motive remains under investigation.
Anyone with further information related to the case is urged to contact Baytown Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
