NEW YORK — Wesley LePatner, a high-ranking executive at Blackstone, has been identified as one of the four victims fatally shot during a mass shooting at 345 Park Avenue in Manhattan on Monday evening. The tragic incident unfolded around 7 p.m. when 27-year-old Shane Tamura, of Las Vegas, opened fire inside the high-rise building, sending shockwaves through the corporate and financial communities.
LePatner served as the Global Head of Core+ Real Estate and Chief Executive Officer of Blackstone Real Estate Income Trust (BREIT). In a statement, Blackstone called the loss “devastating,” describing LePatner as someone who “embodied the best of Blackstone.”
“Words cannot express the devastation we feel. Wesley was a beloved member of the Blackstone family and will be sorely missed,” the company said.
Her colleagues remembered her as “brilliant, passionate, warm, generous, and deeply respected within our firm.”
According to her professional background, LePatner joined Blackstone over a decade ago after working at Goldman Sachs. A graduate of Yale University, she also served on the board of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, further highlighting her dedication to both business and culture.
As investigations into the shooting continue, tributes are pouring in from across the industry and beyond, mourning the loss of a leader whose impact extended far beyond the boardroom.
The motive behind the attack remains under investigation.
